Aboriginal Design Recycled Mat, Burgundy and White
Journeys is an Australia design recycled mat, in rich burgundy red and white, great for home, office or classroom use.
It was created by Australian Aboriginal artist De Greer Yindimincarlie, of the Wiradjuri Nation in central New South Wales, and depicts tribal journeys between campsites. Symbols include men, women, campsites and travel routes, with different communities separate but interconnected.
The Journeys design allows you to bring diversity education into your early learning centre, library or playroom with ease. People of all ages can learn more about their own and other cultures while they read, eat or play on a colourful indoor or outdoor rug. Like all our school mats, it’s a handy introduction to Indigenous symbolism in art and opens us up to the world of storytelling through pictures.
Journeys is made from an innovative material, created from repurposed shopping bags and food containers. These mats ensure you are celebrating the planet as well as multiculturalism. The Journeys mat is light enough to carry or fold-up for transport or storage, so you can move it from your art space or reading corner to a shady spot outside at lunch time. It’s soft and comfortable, but equally sturdy.
Keep your class guessing – or your office décor fresh – by flipping these reversible mats to enjoy two different colour combinations.
The Journeys unique Aboriginal design recycled mat in deep burgundy red and white can be enjoyed as a camping mat, play mat, or picnic mat, wherever you go.
