Description
Artwork
‘Wakirlpirri’ is a very useful tree that grows on the sides of creek beds and near ‘mulga’ trees. The seeds of this tree can be eaten raw or cooked on the fire. A deliciously sweet drink called ‘yinjirrpi’ is made fro the seeds when they have been dried. The wood can be used to make weapons such as ‘karli’ (boomerangs) and dancing boards for ceremonies.
Cross Cultural Project
These cushion designs combine original artwork fromÿAustralian Aboriginal artists with the fine quality handicrafts from the remote Himalayan region of Kashmir.
The hand chain stitched cushion covers are made in Kashmirÿby small craft based enterprisesÿinÿa cross-cultural project with Australian Indigenous artists. Australian and New Zealand wool is custom dyed to match the original artist?s image and hand stitched onto a cotton base. Each cushion is backed with cotton canvas and closes with a zip.
Please note:ÿCushion fillers are not includedÿand asÿthe cushions are hand stitched each design has unique variations.
